Jeep® Compass and Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Receive High Honors at 23rd Annual ‘Mudfest'

Once again, Jeep vehicles had a great showing at the 23rd-annual Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) event, dubbed “Mudfest.” Both the 2017 Jeep® Compass and the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk took home the victory in their respective segments, claiming high honors and earning their titles as toughest off-roaders.

Jeep Once Again Proves its Off-Road Bona Fides

Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global, noted how significant these achievements were for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Jeep’s models have long been regarded as some of the toughest, most robust SUVs money can buy, but these most recent victories just further back up those facts. A total of 28 NWAPA automotive journalists tested 27 vehicles both on and off-road, pushing them to their limits at the specially-designed off-road course built at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Wash.

The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass Comes Out Swinging

The new Jeep Compass is a world-class compact SUV, now entering the segment worldwide. Offering legendary 4x4 off-road capability and superior on-road dynamics, the updated 2.4-liter engine makes it more fuel-efficient than ever. With a choice between a 5-inch, a 7-inch, or an 8.4-inch screen, it’s now filled with technology too. The exclusive nine-speed auto in the 4x4 models is fast and smooth, with FWD variants getting a choice between a six-speed auto and a six-speed manual.

One of the Most Competent SUVs on the Market: Trailhawk

With a Quadra-Drive 4x4 system, rear electronic limited-slip differential and Selec-Speed Control with Hill-Ascent and Hill-Descent, the latest Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is the most off-road capable SUV currently on the market. The Trailhawk’s 18-inch Goodyear Adventure off-road tires, an anti-glare hood and Jeep Trail Rated® hardware further back that up.
